CARBON CREDITS
We develop and implement conservation and restoration projects in the Amazon Rainforest to generate carbon credits that benefit the climate, biodiversity, and traditional communities.
The project activity is based on the suspension, in 2010, of a legally authorized logging plan by the Amazonas Government, operational since 1998, and its replacement with a forest conservation program. This program involves implementing a project for emissions reduction, biodiversity protection, and sustainable social development in the region, including promoting bioeconomy, scientific research, and ecotourism.
The project area does not include any riverine or Indigenous communities within its boundaries; however, it benefits approximately 530 families living in 15 surrounding communities through socio-economic programs focused on improving access to healthcare, education, internet, recreation, women's empowerment, income generation, and more. These initiatives aim to enhance the quality of life and livelihoods of these communities, strengthen their organizational capacity, and promote conservation and sustainability.
COMMUNITIES SERVED BY THE PROJECT
LOCATION
The Project areas are strategic for environmental conservation policies in the Amazon, as they ensure connectivity between mosaics of large forest areas protected by the Federal Government and the Amazonas State Government.
These areas have been classified by the Ministry of the Environment as of exceptional ecological importance and are considered a top priority for conservation efforts in Brazil.
